Our History
It began with a single playhouse. This was more than a simple landing pad with a slide. It was a gateway to imagination. After nine years in the landscaping industry, our founder and CEO, Tyson Leavitt, decided that life needed more whimsy. He set out to build his children the most fantastic playhouse the world had ever seen, debuting the project at a home and garden show in Lethbridge, Alberta.
The response was immediate. The enthusiasm from parents and children alike inspired Tyson to pursue the craft further. After a custom Rapunzel-themed build captured international attention, the path was clear. Tyson and his family sold their landscaping business to dedicate themselves entirely to the art of luxury playhouses.
In 2015, Charmed Playhouses was born. Since then, our journey has included a TLC series, Playhouse Masters, and custom projects for celebrities like NBA MVP Stephen Curry. Today, we continue to push the boundaries of craftsmanship to create the backdrop for families to build memories that last a lifetime.
While our playhouses became bigger and more intricate, we longed for a way to invite even more people to enjoy our creations. This desire evolved into Charmed Resorts, a glamping storybook experience in Crowsnest Pass, Alberta. Charmed Resorts Crowsnest Pass opened in the spring of 2021 to much anticipation. We began with Midsummer Cottage and now have over 16 beautiful fairytale themed cottages for families, friends, couples, and corporate getaways.
We expanded our resort to Mulhurst Bay in 2025. All our cottages are crafted with the original fairytale in mind. We wanted Charmed Resorts to be an immersive experience where you can enter your favorite storybook or legend. While our cottage listings continue to increase, our hearts are full because we can share our love of fairy tales, fanciful architecture, and the gathering of loved ones. We hope to offer a unique storytelling experience for every guest.
